Dr. Olga Rua earned her Doctoral degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, her Masters' from the University of Toledo and her bachelors from the University of Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia). Dr. Rua has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist in Colombia, Italy, Germany, and the U.S.A. In 2003 and 2004 Dr. Rua was selected to participate in Chatauqua Summer School of Music with full scholarship. In 2008 she won Distinguished Musician Award at the Ibla International Piano Competition (Italy) and in 2009 she was selected to take part of the Asolo Song Festival (Italy) as collaborative pianist. In addition to performing and teaching, Dr. Rua is an avid scholar of early 18th-century music, particularly the music of Carlos de Seixas (1704-1742), and the Spanish music of late 19th-century, mainly "Iberia" of Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909). In December of 2010, her D.M.A. Essay: "Historical Overview of Carlos Seixas's Works for Solo Keyboard," was published. In the Spring of 2016 she moved to Cincinnati with her husband and son. She joined the faculty of Cincinnati Music Academy in July 2016.

First Piano Competition Winner: Madeleine Luther

Dr. Olga Rua’s Piano Studio held its First Practice Competition September 5-30, 2017. The student who practiced the most and who won the title of “Champion” is: Madeleine Luther.

Madeleine won’t with over 45 hours of practice over the life of the competition. Her competitive nature helped her get ahead and keep the first place. She received a $100 prize and the first-place medal. She is 13 years old and is in 8th grade at Madeira Middle School, where she is part of the Volleyball and Basketball teams.

First Practice Competition Results

Our Studio’s First Practice Competition took place September 5-30, 2017.  The student who practiced the most and who won the title of “Champion” is Madeleine Luther.

Madeleine won’t with over 45 hours of practice over the life of the competition.  Her competitive nature helped her get ahead and keep the first place.  She will receive a $100 prize and the first-place medal tomorrow at her piano lesson.

Students of the Month, September 2017

IMG_3422Juniper Fairfield, 6 years old, and her brother Soren Fairfield, 9 years old, are the students of the month for September. With a tied score of 40 points out of 40.

Juniper is a 1st grader at Indian Hill Elementary School. She likes to draw and to play Little Pony and unicorns.

Soren is in 4th grade also at Indian Hill Elementary School, where he is part of the Discovery Program.  He likes Minecraft and he is on the YMCA’s swim team.
